Sisterhood's Catering Committee is responsible for food orders, set-up, serving, and clean-up for all synagogue events (except for Men's Club events, handled by the Men's Club, and morning kiddushes, which are handled by the Religious Committee). The Committee will also set up and serve for your Bar or Bat Mitzvah, Aufruf, or Wedding, for a fee.

The Composite New Year's Card consists of "Happy New Year" greetings from sponsoring contributors. The card is mailed to all congregation members prior to Rosh HaShanah. The coordinator puts together a notice seeking sponsors for the card; coordinates with office staff to get the notice mailed; collects money and greeting information from the sponsors; puts together the card (typing, layout, editing); and arranges for printing and mailing of the card.
In this coming year, 5765, Rosh HaShanah begins Wednesday, September 15, 2004. Worry less about cards and forgetting someone; let Sisterhood include your greeting in our composite card and send it to your friends at Nevey Shalom in time for a sweet New Year. We will take care of the addressing, stamping, and mailing of the card. Let your Nevey Shalom friends know you are thinking of them and wishing them L'Shanah Tovah.

We collect dry goods to donate to the Bowie Community Pantry. Food must be unopened, unexpired. Especially appreciated are peanut butter and cereal. No bulging cans or old matzah, please! The pantry is a five-minute drive from the synagogue.
Items may be dropped off at the Community Presbyterian Church on Belair Drive, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, from 9:00am - 11:00am.
These programs may be jointly sponsored with the Men's Club and Hadassah.

The Good and Welfare cards coordinator serves as the contact point for information about changes in the lives of synagogue members. These changes include births, deaths, illnesses, celebrations, etc. The coordinator sends the individual a card, and informs the newsletter editors of these events. This helps to keep the community informed.

The Mitzvah Committee visits and assists sick, elderly, post-pregnant, post-shiva members of the congregation. The coordinator serves as a contact person for obtaining help; sets up a registry of volunteers; trains volunteers; and dispatches volunteers.

All congregation members take turns putting out the oneg at Shabbat evening services. Sisterhood maintains a list of the "volunteers". Sisterhood also seeks sponsors for the kiddushes. The sponsor and honoree are announced on the Shabbat just before the occasion honored.
