Maintenance Services

We perform only small-scale residential garden maintenance services, as described below.

Shrub Pruning and Shearing

We can prune your shrubs, removing dead wood, and thinning out the interior to promote better air circulation throughout the plant. The pruning process removes branches that rub and cause injury. Pruning can also improve the shrub's appearance.

We also can shear your shrubs, giving them a formal controlled look.

Note: We don't prune trees. We are not licensed under Maryland law to perform tree maintenance. We also do not have the equipment for tree chipping and hauling, and will refer you to a Certified Arborist/Licensed Tree Expert for those kinds of jobs.

Clipping and Dead-heading Flowers

Throughout the season, we can cut back spent flowers; often this can result in production of new flowers and extend the blooming season. It also gives the garden a more attractive appearance.

Weeding

We can remove weeds. If the garden has been properly mulched, weed growth usually isn't a problem; however, the occasional weed does pop up even with mulch.

Mulch Installation

We can install mulch around your trees and shrubs, and in your flower beds.

Bed Edging

We can edge your beds and give it a clean line setting it off from your lawn. We also install edging, such as scalloped concrete pieces, brick (non-masonry), plastic (although we don't recommend it), or wood.

Plant Selection and Evaluation

We will often advise you not to grow certain plants in certain locations, because they are not well-suited to growing successfully there. We also advise you not to grow certain plants because they are known to have annoying pest problems, or are known to be invasive to local ecosystems.

We believe that the best gardens are those with happy healthy plants. Using our experience in Integrated Pest Management, we can evaluate plant problems and make a preliminary diagnosis.

Bulb Planting

In Fall, we can plant bulbs.

Flower and Small Shrub Planting

Throughout the season, we can plant annuals for seasonal color, or install or replace perennials and small shrubs.

Perennial Plant Division

Every three years or so, to keep your plants looking good in their locations, it may become necessary to divide them. We can do this, and replant the plants.

Pressure Washing and Staining Fences

We can pressure wash your hard surfaces, from brick walkways, concrete driveways, and wood fences. We can also apply wood sealant/stain to your wood fences.
