Changing the Home's Exterior
Q: I want to add a gate, or extend my fence, or build a deck, or.... What do I need to do?
A: Check the Architectural Guidelines for what you need to do. For some changes, such as extending a fence or building a deck or shed, you need to obtain permits from both the City of Bowie and Prince George's County. The guidelines also describe the constraints upon your change. The Architectural Enforcement Policy describes the procedures to follow to submit the Request for Architectural Modification as well as the actions the Board of Directors may take if the guidelines are not adhered to.
Dogs and Other Loose or Nuisance Animals
Q: My neighbor's dog is barking all day, and it's driving me CRAZY! What do I do?
A:
Paint Colors
Q: What are the paint colors for my house?
A: Conduct the House Color Search for your house color.
Parking
Q: I can't find a parking space!
A: View the information on the Parking information page.
Q: The snow removers pushed snow and blocked a lot of our parking spaces! How come?
A: There is no where else to push the snow. You can petition the Board through the property manager to hire a snow removal contractor who will remove the snow from the parking lot by picking it up and dumping it into a truck to carry away. However, that is expensive. One possible way to alleviate the situation is to get your neighbors together and shovel the snow out of the parking spaces, and have a pizza party afterwards, even though it is not your responsibility.
Q: Do I have to shovel the sidewalks?
A: Theoretically, no, since the sidewalks outside your property boundaries are Common Areas and the Association is responsible for maintaining the Common Areas. The Board of Directors is responsible for hiring and supervising the appropriate personnel to handle the maintenance. However, you have a choice to wait and hope the Board directs the contractors to plow the sidewalks, or, take care of them yourself. Write or call the property manager with your concerns. You are, however, required to shovel the walk leading to your house, as well as your steps, stoop, and driveway, if you have one.
Street Lights
Q: The street light in my parking lot is out - what do I do to get it fixed?
A: If the streetlight is located in our parking lots, report this outage to the property manager.
If the street light is located on Enfield, Everst, or Northview Drives, you can report a streetlight outage to BGE; select "Outdoor Lighting" and "Report Streetlight Outage". Or, you can phone their Customer Care Center at 1.800.685.0123. BGE recommends that you supply the following information:
- your name, address, and telephone number
- the four-digit identification number on the pole
- the nearest address and intersection where the streetlight is located
- city where pole is located
- pole type: wood, metal, fiberglass, other
- problem: pole damaged, light on during day, light not lighting at night
- length of time the problem has existed

Trash
Q: My neighbors keep putting out trash days before trash pick-up is scheduled! I'm tired of seeing bags sitting around for days! What do I do?
A: Remind your neighbors of the Trash policy. If the reason why your neighbor is putting out trash early is because he or she may be away for the weekend, ask if your neighbor can leave the trash in the back yard, and offer to put out the trash for him or her at the appropriate time. If that doesn't work, call the City of Bowie Code Enforcement Division.
Unmowed Lawns
Q: My neighbor hasn't mowed the lawn in a long time and the grass is tall and weedy. What do I do?
A: Offer to mow the lawn. Or, call the City's Code Enforcement Division to report the problem. The Code Enforcement Officer will check the problem, and cite the owner if the grasses or weeds are 12" or higher.
